With a master's degree in architecture from Harvard University, Bernardo Fort-Brescia has been in the architecture profession for more than four decades. Through his firm, Arquitectonica, Bernardo Fort-Brescia has been involved in designing and constructing various notable buildings, including the Atlantis in Miami. Arquitectonica also designed the University of Miami's School of Architecture's Thomas P. Murphy's Design Studio Building.
The University of Miami's School of Architecture's Thomas P. Murphy's Design Studio Building possesses 18-foot tall glass walls that are hurricane-proof. The walls provide natural light for the studio spaces in the building. The building serves about 130 students, and among other features, it possesses presentation areas, workstations, and a modern fabrications lab. The sun's movements were considered in the design and construction of Thomas P. Murphy's Design Studio Building to create a sustainable work environment all year round. Due to its innovative design and construction, the building won the World-Architects' 2018 Building of the Year Award.
